Mayor David Schwan announced, "Rural/Metro (R/M) has entered into a prearranged Chapter 11 bankruptcy.  They have informed us that services will continue; they intend to continue as an ongoing firm and that's a standard way for a firm to reorganize its finances."

 

 

 

Councilman Marty Saltzman asked if the contract between R/M and Carefree was re-ratified.  Mayor Schwan replied, "We have been informed by management and through people doing the job, they're going to continue to show up, do the job, and get the work done."

 

 

 

Vice Mayor Les Peterson asked if the people doing the job would be injured by this.  Mayor Schwan answered, "The Chief advises me that as part of the restructuring he has talked to the people that provide the services, and I volunteered to go over there and tell them that we're happy and support them, and we expect them to continue."
